Dayung Dared

Hello, Anih agah? How are you?

As for introduction, I’m a Bidayuh lady from Serian. Im 42 and I’m the second child in my family. Well in my blog I’ll use 3 languages that i know, which is English, Bahasa Melayu and Bidayuh dialects. Live in Borneo where it is the 3rd largest Island in the world and the indegenous tribe are called Dayaks. We are Dayak Land. There are over 250 tribe of Dayaks in Borneo. Most of the local still fishing, farming and hunting for their daily foods. But the modern generasi on nowadays are living and working in town and most of them working in the government and local companies. Some nomad and work overseas. Its a common 

We live in Bidayuh village near to the Pan Borneo highway called Kampung Seroban. 
My blog is more about being a Sarawakian and a Bidayuh myself and I’m sharing about how and what I’m doing in my life. 
As Known Bidayuh Serian or Bukar Sadong is spoken by around 50,000 speaker in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo and Tebedu as well as Tanjung Amo near to the border Of Kalimantan. We are among the 32 raced in Sarawak itself. Dayung is what we call women in Bidayuh Serian. Different dialect for Bidayuh accordingly to their places and districts as well. I had lived in Malaya for 20 years before and now I’m living here near to my parents and siblings. 
Aye sien mah kuan inya, kan tuhai nganai de tarun inya, tuhai lagi rak ngilala balik bala banca adup ngan sanak adup. This is in Bidayuh dialect menas as what Known as im away for a long period of time, IT will take much time for me to learn about my dialect more deeper and my cultures too.
In Semenanjung Malaysia before I lived near to KLIA in Selangor not far from Main city called Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city for our country Malaysia. 
I’m involved in pageant industry since 2008, last time our group known as Panggau Singai Crews. Our group members came from different raced in Sarawak like orang Bidayuh, orang iban and orang ulu. Our background are different as we all working in different sectors and industries but combined made us a beautiful partners and members.
Then 2008 until 2014 I did involved with Persatuan Warisan Sarawak, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur as the organiser members for The Borneo Hornbill Festival that being held in Saloma hall before where we presented our show cases Of dancers from Sarawak and Sabah and pageants categories for both states as well. Not to forgot the foods from the Sarawakian and Sabahan too. It is a yearly event and went on till 2019 before the Pandemics. From the event itself we created a big circulation and impacts among students and Sarawakian and Sabahan peoples that our culturally events as we can presented it elsewhere in the world. 
Even until not the impacts was huge that our people who still working in Semenanjung Malaysia asking about the event. 
Nevertheless not to involved again in the industries but I’m choosing to focus on my sewing and beadings, as my new hobbies. Working shifts is not easy too, as I am not free during weekend. Most of the native people nowadays are involved in the local events and selling things at market such as crafts and weaving baskets and other local things as well. Beads are much involve in the local crafts and the tribe normally doing all the tradisional hats and clothes and the traditional accessories as well. The culturally ornaments and the tribal arts also travel throughly by times. Museum and the Social medias play it role in promoting and manifesting the cultures.

The Bidayuh crafts are famous for century and it represent the tribe too. Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness. Diversity and inclusion are about giling value to every hujan being, no matter our differences. By Matia Robotics.
Some say we may have different religions,  different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one race. We are all different and that’s beautiful. Till the next page I will being more storied and sharing about Bidayuh.
